WebMyositis ossificans is een aandoening waarbij een spierkneuzing uitmondt in lokale vorming van botweefsel in die spier. Na een (zware) kneuzing ontstaat in de spier een bloeduitstorting. Het lichaam reageert hierop door een ontstekingsreactie in de spier ( myositis) in gang te zetten. Daarbij kan warmte, roodheid, pijn en zwelling voorkomen.
